Chantix Lawsuits: What Can Plaintiffs’ Lawyer Prove?

Chantix is mad science messing with the brain

You and Dawson, you both live in the same dreamworld! It doesn’t matter what I believe. It only matters what I can prove! So don’t tell me what I know, or don’t know! I know the LAW!

Lt. Daniel Kaffee, that crazy kid, was on to something here. You can apply Kaffee’s logic to Chantix. Chantix is always on the FDA adverse event reports leaderboard, both in terms of breadth and quantity. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. Not always. But usually.
There is certainly enough of a connection between the smoke in Chantix suicide cases. If someone starts taking Chantix and kills themselves, it will not be difficult to explain to a jury the relationship. It is not a leap to say that if someone has been going through life without killing themselves (obviously), takes Chantix, and then kills themselves, it is going to be more likely than not that Chantix was a contributing cause. Not definitively connected beyond all reasonable doubt – suicide is too complex of an event for that – but certainly more likely that not to be a contributor.

After suicide, the claims get more difficult. I really think that Chantix increases the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Admittedly, I don’t base this theory on my digging through the data. It is more of that smoke and fire metaphor: adverse event reports, plus the number of leads our law firm gets, plus the fact that Chantix is mad science messing with the brain without understanding all of the effects… I add that up to general causation.
Translating that “know” into being able to prove the case with experts is a different story. Adding to that problem with the diabetes and heart disease cases, is the idea of specific causation. The argument against Chantix is not that it is giving 25 year-old marathon running and health food addicts diabetes and heart disease in massive numbers. Instead, it is pushing people at risk over the edge. That is a much thinner slice and much harder to prove.
Our attorneys are investigating potential lawsuits for suicides on Chantix. Unfortunately, because I think there may be viable claims, we are no longer looking at Chantix heart disease or diabetes cases. If you or a loved one on Chantix has experienced an injury as a result of any of these symptoms or events, call 1-800-553-8082 or get a free online consultation.

I took two complete regimens of Chantix in ’07. Endured two, long, hospital stays in ’08. One stay was for possible heart attack and second stay for serious suicide attempt plus psyche unit.
Feared drugs as a teen, can describe first hand in vivid detail at 55…an hallucination.
I took this drug in good faith. Trusted everyone involved in the process. Never again will I trust my life…so BLINDLY with greedy strangers. I was a fool. You almost got me, Pfizer…and shame on you, too, FDA. I REALLY trusted you!!
Learned the hard way, this is a cold, cruel world we live in. No one has your back. No one. Sad.

Had I not taken two scripts mySELF between Oct. ’06 – Oct. ’07, I would’ve had a hard time believing…that a little, blue pill could actually PUSH a person, MENTALLY, over the edge!
But, I did…and can assure any doubters out there…this drug is real. The side effects are real. I’ll admit that yes, it DID touch on the smoking receptors…and had it STOPPED there, I, too, would be singing Chantix’ praises…but it didn’t…and I can’t.
Feared drugs as a teen…can describe first hand in VIVID detail at 55…an hallucination. This is one, POWERFUL, SNEAKY, all-CONSUMING drug!! Who knew a pill could twist and distort one’s thoughts, dreams, reflexes, so DRASTICALLY…and THOROUGHLY…that to live anymore…seems silly! Funny!
I endured two, long, hospital stays in ’08. One, for possible heart attack and the other for serious suicide attempt which also included a psyche unit stay.
I trusted BLINDLY everybody involved in getting this script filled!! Never again…
There’s no way the negative side effects didn’t show up in the early trials. Can’t believe I was so naive. You need to know…no one has your back. NO ONE!!

I successfully quit smoking with chantix. I tried many a time with out it. i tried the patch the gum every thing and i can tell you all the side effect that chantix list is the same effect you will experience quitting cold turkey or using any quit method stopping smoking is a huge under taking its stressful and my anxiety level was through the roof every time i tried to quit so while there may be some people that it does not work for i will submit that it worked for me and i probably owe my life to it. also i i will be running a marathon in 18 weeks just a little over a year after i quit.
p.s. im a lot younger im 25 so maybe that makes a diference also the patch or any nicotine will give you the same vivid dreams and “halucinaions”
i think its a great drug but i think you need to have a good support system before you attempt to quit smoking because no matter how you quit you will need the support and patience of the people around you
Thanks i just want to post the other side of the story i know drugs effect different people in different ways but i think everyone needs to know that there is two sides to every story

The Diabetes information is not exactly correct. I took Chantix in 2008 for 1 month and developed Type 1 Diabetis a week later after taking it. When you say that marathon runners are not getting it-not true. I was 46 at the time, taught fitness classes and I teach nutrition for a living. I was in great shape and health…..My diabetes was a direct result of taking Chantix…Chantix messed with my system and stopped my pancreas from functioning. I can not stress enough that I was never borderline and could outrun a 25 year old at the time of getting Type1 Diabetes. I was not a heavy smoker, just wanted to stop all together. I am an exceptionally healthy eater and was not at risk of getting Diabetes. As you stated, proving it is the problem.
